Connectus Health Honored as “COVID-19 Public Health Champion” for Middle Tennessee

Nashville’s non-profit Connectus Health was recently awarded five performance and quality badges from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the primary Federal agency for improving access to health care services to people who are uninsured, isolated or medically vulnerable.

As an HRSA-supported, federally qualified health center serving on the front lines of the Pandemic, Connectus was recognized as a “Covid-19 Public Health Champion” for Middle Tennessee.

Connectus is a critical element of Greater Nashville’s healthcare network, and saw thousands of patients through the Covid-19 Pandemic, providing testing, treatment, telehealth appointments and, most recently, the rollout of a mobile health unit. Connectus patients of all ages have access to comprehensive health care services, regardless of the ability to pay.

“Like everyone and particularly the medical community, the only option was to confront the challenges of the Pandemic and find innovative ways to keep people healthy,” said Suzanne Hurley, Co-CEO of Connectus Health. “We are so proud of our team for their tireless work through this unprecedented time, and pleased to see their efforts recognized with such an honor.”

Each year, HRSA’S Community Health Quality Recognition badges recognize federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) for achievements in the areas of access, quality, health equity, health information technology, and public health emergency response.

Among 29 FQHCs across the state, only five health centers earned the recognition this year. HRSA also awarded Connectus Health with the Health Center Quality Leader – Gold Status badge, as well as the Access Enhancer, Patient-Centered Medical Home, and Health Disparities Reducer badges. The Health Disparities Reducer badge recognizes health centers that meet established benchmarks for at least two or more racial/ethnic groups served within the most recent Uniform Data System reporting year.

“Nashville is a growing community, but not everyone is thriving, and it is important to know that Connectus Health is here to serve those who too often get left behind,” said Caroline Portis-Jenkins, Co-CEO with Hurley. “FQHCs are an essential resource and we are very appreciative of this recognition that helps underscore the role we play.”

Connectus Health continues to provide affordable, high-quality healthcare designed around the patient’s needs, allowing them to work alongside their healthcare team to reach their optimal healthcare goals.
